CHASS newsblog: Alumni careers
CHASS alumni go on to have interesting careers. Riding the Cash Cab details one alum's journey from NCSU to writing for a hit television series. The story's intended audience is students, and it will be featured on NC State's homepage in December.
CHASS newsblog: Student story
Study abroad programs are enrolling more and more students. NC State is encouraging students to become globally engaged. In the spirit of International Month, I wrote a story for the CHASS newsblog. Discovering the lost city and a love for travel details one student's experiences in Peru and encourages students to seek opportunities outside of their comfort zone. The story will also be distributed to CHASS donors.

CHASS newsblog: Student events
CHASS frequently holds interdisciplinary events that bring together students from across all colleges at NC State. The Department of Foreign Languages and Literature put together an event that depicted energy use and Germany's new role in international environmental policy. I interviewed students, faculty, and staff to write Green event brings renewed energy to Caldwell Lounge for the CHASS newsblog. Pictures were also featured on the CHASS Facebook page.

NCSU homepage: Leiva Strings
CHASS students create and invent ideas and products. To further the idea of NCSU's spirit of entrepreneurship, I wrote an article about a student who created his own business and participated in an international business competition. Strumming up business was originally created for the CHASS newsblog, but was picked up by NC State's homepage after it was pitched. The article was also put on the university's Entrepreneurship Initiative's homepage and featured in the CHASS alumni e-newsletter.

CHASS newsblog: Alumni book
CHASS publicizes the accomplishments of past and present students. Two alumni recently published a book about NC State basketball, and CHASS ran a story about the journey of the men from student newspaper writers to award-winning photojournalists. I interviewed the alums and wrote CHASS alums recount NCSU's basketball history. The article was published on the CHASS newsblog and posted as a calendar item for students.

Fall 2010 GlobalEyes Newsletter
CHASS is frequently asked to contribute articles to other NCSU media outlets. The Office of International Affairs asked CHASS to supply a story for the Fall 2010 GlobalEyes Newsletter. I contacted and interviewed Dr. Nora Haenn and wrote A new perspective on Mexican Immigration. The article was printed in the GlobalEyes newsletter and on the CHASS newsblog. The audiences for the piece were students, faculty, and staff.

CHASS newsblog: NC State Fair Dialect Booth
CHASS faculty are involved in a variety of projects on and off campus. A NC State professor set up a linguistics booth at the 2010 NC State Fair and asked CHASS Communications to help publicize the endeavor. I interviewed the professor and wrote Deep-fried food and NC dialects at 2010 State Fair, which appeared on the CHASS newsblog and was later picked up by the NC State Bulletin. The article was intended to encourage students, faculty, and staff to attend the NC State Fair and stop by the dialect booth.

CHASS newsblog: Brown Bag Lunch
One of the first stories I wrote during my internship with CHASS was an article about the dean sitting down with students over lunch. Dean sits down with students over lunch was published on the CHASS newsblog. The audience for the article was students, and they were encouraged to attend the next brown bag event.
